Ros Wyatt  MA, AMFT

Are you are going through a challenging life transition, struggling in your relationships, suffering with stress, anxiety or depression?  You are very far from being alone.  There are times in our lives when we all need support and guidance, and seeking therapy shows both your courage and your desire to create a positive change.  I believe that therapy can be transformative and oftentimes a magical collaboration.

Services

I strive to create a warm and welcoming environment and bring both empathy and humor to our collaboration. My aim is to create a trusting relationship where my clients feel safe and heard.

We can work together towards achieving your goals, increasing your insight, expanding your coping skills and bringing about the change you want to see in your life.  I hope to arm you with new ways to manage and respond to painful situations or recurring difficulties.

I use a psychodynamic orientation, exploring pivotal moments in your history which continue to add shade and shape to your present day instinctive responses, expectations and prevailing mood.  I also include a variety of additional techniques to address the particular needs of each individual.

  • I enjoy working with individuals of all ages who are at a transitional point in their lives, whether it be adjusting to college, becoming a parent, ending a relationship, experiencing a loss, returning to the workforce or making a career shift.  I offer support, understanding and insight in navigating the often bumpy road of making or experiencing any type of change.

  • I also like to work with teens and have experience working in high school with 14-18 year olds.  Issues included anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, addiction, sexuality and gender identity.

  • Furthermore, I work with couples struggling to connect as well as families going through difficulties.  I draw from an integrative approach including family systems and emotionally focused therapy and attachment theory.

I work in person in my office in Lafayette and also offer Telehealth sessions.  If I sound like I may be a good fit, please reach out for a free 20 minute phone consultation.  I look forward to talking with you.

About

I moved to the Bay Area from Britain with my family in 2000.  I have a background in business and design and have created and run several thriving companies. Over those years I learned that so much of life hangs on the way we are able to relate to others, the way we feel about ourselves, what we bring to an interaction and what we expect from one.  My interest and curiosity led me first to take a two year course in Person Centered Counseling while living in Manchester, UK, and then to the Wright Institute in Berkeley where I completed an MA in Counseling Psychology. I am now employed by the Bay Area Psychotherapy Institute.

  • Masters in Counseling Psychology, The Wright Institute, Berkeley

  • Certificate in Person Centered Counseling Skills and Theory, Manchester City College, UK

  • BA in English Literature, Durham University, UK

  • Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist #143341

  • Supervised by Pierre Vilanoba, LMFT # 116891
